Welcome to week 3

Hello from Los Angeles, where I’ve been for the last week for some work-related reasons. But it’s also been great to catch up with my friends and family here and to enjoy all the culinary joys of the city, including Yucatan-style carnitas burritos, Taiwanese dumplings and magnificent Cuban pork that my aunt made.

Last week, as some of you know, I took a look at where all the Swifts appeared to be according to some numbers on the interwebs. In this group we have not only Californias and Alabamans (my regular posse), but also New Yorkers, Washingtonians and Idahoans (is that even a word?). You are also from Georgia, Colorado, New Jersey, Illinois, Florida and the mysterious “not detected” location, which I presume is CIA headquarters.

But wait, there’s more. We also have a writer in France, one in India and one in Barbados.

This blows my mind. I launched this program almost exactly two years ago on my laptop in my living room and I recruited a handful of beta testers via Facebook. They were old college classmates, a few former coworkers, a guy from my church, and a man who used to cat-sit for me before me moved out of town. I knew all of them personally.

So thanks for being here and giving this a try. In week 3, we’ll shift into the here and now, writing about more contemporary observations — about people, places and self. Enjoy.
